I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!
-Psalms 27:13 – 14
“If I wait until I’m the perfect size, I might miss out on life. So, I’m just going to enjoy my life at this size” – Michelle Hughes.
When Michelle said this, it struck a chord. Why do we wait until we accomplish a goal or reach a milestone to celebrate? It takes months, and sometimes even years, for us to reach our target weight or have the marriage we dreamed of. That’s days, months, and years that we spend without acknowledging how far we’ve come or just celebrating our ability to persevere.
We spend so much time waiting — lines at the bank, at the grocery store, in traffic or waiting until we lose weight or get the house we want. More than that, many of us are waiting for things to change in our lives: finances, careers, aspects of our marriages.
Despite the fact that much of our time is spent waiting, many of us still do not enjoy it. We want God to hurry up and make things materialize in our lives. We want our husbands to quickly be the man that God has called him to be. We want it all and we want it now, but growth and change take time.
And that’s ok.
Sis, you can enjoy yourself while you wait! You can live a full life while you have weight goals, marriage goals, and financial goals.
You can celebrate on the way to your accomplishments. Decide today that you aren’t going to wait to enjoy the vacation, raise, promotion, or acknowledgment from others. Take yourself out for coffee, celebrate the moment, and laugh like nobody’s business right now.
Believe that you are going to see God’s goodness and promises come to pass, but don’t miss the goodness that He is showing you right now.
Wait well, dear friends! Wait well!
And find something to enjoy while you are doing it!
I LOVE this! Great reminder
