There were nights that I seriously contemplated smothering my husband with a pillow, while he slept soundly as if nothing was wrong. (Sound familiar?) 😏
Of course, I’m joking but let’s be real. It’s easy to become frustrated when your efforts to improve marriage feel one-sided.
You’re not the only one who struggles in her marriage.

This kinda love isn’t easy but, with Jesus’s help, you can learn to love this way too!
But when I took my focus off of the things I couldn’t change–my husband, his attitudes, his inability to throw his clothes in the hamper (you get my drift)–God began working in me.
Letting God change us is integral to Him changing our marriage. When He changes our hearts, we can see things as they really are. This new perspective enables us to stop keeping score, and start loving our husbands UNCONDITIONALLY–just like Jesus.
Since then I’ve had the fulfilling, but challenging task of writing three books: “While He is Perfecting Me”, “The Believing Wife”, and “The Believing Wife Devotional.”
The most energizing time in my ministry is spent with wives–like you–during our weekly Believing Wives Bible Study, and in-person for our annual women's retreats.

It’s been more than 5 years since I’ve opened the doors to my online home, BelievingWives.com.
I’m married to my college sweetheart, John Cheek II. We met during my very first class! It’s been 22 years now and we’re still laughing & learning together.
We have 7 amazing children: Jacquan, Tian, Maiya, Matthew, Madison, Morgan, and Malia.
I’m the grandmama of one super cute grandson, Monterio. And I can’t forget my fur-baby, the sweetest dog ever, Cookie.
Together, we live in Durham, NC (which is known as “the City of Medicine”).
