Sis, Just Be His Wife

Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies. The heart of her husband safely trusts her; So he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil all the days of her life. -Proverbs 31:10-12

You are your husband’s wife. It’s a specific role. It’s a powerful role. It is a huge role, and God expects you to fulfill it.

Love him. Honor him. Respect him. Encourage him. Be strong where he is weak. Partner with him for the mission of God for your marriage.

Be his wife.

That’s what you committed to on your wedding day, and that is all that God is asking you to do.

We run into problems when we abandon our role as wife and seek to fill other roles. You know the ones: boss, mother, supervisor, disciplinarian. That’s not your place. It’s not what God called you to do.

God is not asking you to figure your husband out or fix your husband. He isn’t even asking you to fix your marriage. He is only asking you to be your husband’s wife.

He’s asking you to do what you agreed to do - hold up your end of the deal.

Your husband may be solidly walking in God’s will for his life, or he may be far from it. Either way, God’s expectations are the same: since you are married be his wife.

When you do that you are honoring God.

My encouragement for you is to get back in your place. Stop trying to force things and fix things. Simply play your position and run the play God has given you.

Be his wife.
